Lakeland Bound !

This Saturday the 14th, several players dreams of making it to States in Lakeland were realized as they advanced as Regional Champions.

6A - Regional Championship - Ferguson High School won the Regional Championship Saturday, defeating Krop 22-25, 26-24, 25-17, 25-17.



Krop came out strong and confident in the first game and controlled the game with consistent serves and good defense. But Ferguson came back to win the second game 26-24 after a key save by Anabel Miguelez, with Danielle Pohl pounding 3 aces to seal the win. Valeria Mejia scored with 5 consecutive serves and contributed the winning block. The Falcons were able to carry that momentum into the third and fourth games to win the title.

Kristen Walewski led the match with 50 assists and 11 digs, and Alexandra Walewski had 10 kills and 10 digs. Danielle Pohl dominated the net with 19 kills and 3 blocks, while Alexandra Beverly slammed 14 kills. Mackenzie Webster played consistently all around, and Alexandra Brando had 16 digs. Danielle Pohl attributed the win to "great team unity that pulled the game out in the end." Alexandra Beverly added, "Krop played an amazing game, but it was our year." Coach Greg Shanower said that while he was proud of his team's effort and tenacity, they would have to improve on ball control in order to win at the next level. 5A - Regional Championship - Martin County d. St. Thomas Aquinas in a five set thriller, 28-26, 15-25, 23-25, 25-23, 15-9.


4A - Regional Championship - Jensen Beach d. Cardinal Gibbons in four sets: 25-18, 17-25, 25-21, 27-25.

3A - Regional Championship - Chaminade d. North Broward Prep.: 28-26, 25-21, 26-24.

2A - Regional Championship - Westminster Academy d.Palmer Trinity in a five set thriller: 19-25, 17-25, 25-23, 28-26,15-13.

1A - Regional Championship - Lake Worth Christian d Miami Christian in three Sets: 25-14, 25-22, 25-14.
